POSITION PROFILE:

The Banquet Captain supervises and works with the banquet staff in the completion of the assigned functions and set-up, as well as oversee the service and breakdown functions in a safe manner. The Banquet Captain should be attentive to guest needs and ensure they feel welcome, comfortable and relaxed at all times. The Banquet Captain reports to and works closely with the Banquet Manager to ensure all details of the event are covered. They strive to model the Pursell Farm Core Values in the completion of their work.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION:

  • Checks server and houseman BEO to ensure all information accurate and correct
  • Ensures all public areas are neat, clean and in order
  • Works with team to prepare the room prior to an event or guest arrival
  • Meets with group representative and maintains contact throughout the event for any additional needs during the function
  • Assures that all food and beverage items are presented and served correctly and noting any special requests and instructions on the BEO for the event
  • Maintains constant contact with Culinary Department lead and banquet team during event and noting any changes in schedule, challenges or adverse comments that need to be addressed
  • Completes all required paperwork in a timely and accurate manner
  • Ensures that room is left clean and tidy after event and that all equipment is clean and returned to the proper storage area
  • Troubleshoots any just in time problems and assists other team members as needed, serving as a teacher and role model for standards of service
  • Performs all other duties as required

 

 

 

 

DESIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • High school graduate or equivalent GED
  • At least one year of server experience in a Banquet setting

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to speak, read and understand English
  • Ability to coach, direct and encourage staff to correctly perform to the highest standards of service
  • Knowledge of the venue and menu for the event
  • Ability to identify issues and take immediate plan of corrective action
  • Willingness to work side by side with team members to complete all tasks
  • Willingness to continue to study, learn and improve knowledge of Banquet service
